§ Mr. ForthThe Department does not publish information about four-year-olds alone by local education authority. Information about three and four-year-olds by local education authority in January 1994 was published in statistical bulletin 2/95, a copy of which was placed in the Library.

§ Mr. ForthThe Prime Minister has made a commitment to provide, over time, a pre-school place for every four-year-old whose parents wish to take it up, with the first places becoming available during the lifetime of this Parliament. My right hon. Friend will make an announcement on how she plans to implement that commitment when the details have been finalised.
