§ Mr. BoswellThe average annual cost to public funds per student at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge is about £4,900. The cost per student at other English universities ranges from just under £1,000 for the Open university to about £4,500. Institutions with high levels of part-time participation or which place a greater emphasis on the arts and humanities tend to have lower costs. The average annual cost per student at other English universities is about £2,800.
