How the cost of maintaining a prisoner in Latchmere House compares with the average cost of maintaining a prisoner.

Letter to the Earl of Longford from the Director General of the Prison Service, Mr. Derek Lewis, dated 29 March 1994:

Lord Ferrers has asked me to reply to your recent Question asking how the cost of maintaining a. prisoner in Latchmere House compares with the average cost of maintaining a prisoner.

In 1992–93 the net operating cost of maintaining a prisoner at Latchmere House was £507 a week compared to £494 for prisoners in England and Wales as, a whole.
