asked Her Majesty's Government:

Further to their reply of 10th February 1994 (H. L. Deb., WA.135), to give the dates on which:

  1. (a) they held informal discussions with the London Boroughs Transport Committee with regard to Clause 24 of the Deregulation and Contracting Out Bill;
  2. (b) they met with the London Boroughs Transport Committee;
  3. (c) the Bill was sent to the printers;
  4. (d) the Bill was published.

The Minister for Transport in London met representatives of the London Boroughs Transport Committee on 17th January to advise them of the Government's proposal to take enabling powers with a view to amending the London lorry ban. The Bill was printed on the evening of 18th January and published the following morning. Full consultation on the detail of the changes will take place in due course.
