HL Deb 14 February 1994 vol 552 cc4-5WA
Lord Kilmarnock

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How, following the partial withdrawal of the Health Education Authority's public education campaign on safer sex on the grounds that it may cause offence, they now propose to meet the objectives of reducing teenage pregnancies and the spread of HIV/AIDS as specified in Health of the Nation(Cm.1986).

Baroness Cumberlege

Public education by the Health Education Authority (HEA) is one element in a comprehensive approach to achieving the Government's targets and objectives for HIV/AIDS prevention and the reduction of unwanted pregnancies. Ministers and all statutory and voluntary agencies involved (including the HEA) are committed to ensuring that all health promotion is appropriate, acceptable and effective.
