HL Deb 11 February 1994 vol 552 cc34-6WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many individuals, in which locations, are employed in the field of biological monitoring to whom the advice contained in Guidance Note Ms 17 from the Health and Safety Executive would apply, and upon how many occasions their advice has been sought since 1980.

Lord Henley

The responsibility for ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to safeguard the health of those at work lies with the employer. This includes, if appropriate, ensuring biological monitoring by or under the supervision of a doctor. The Government do not keep records of the arrangements in each workplace or when doctors are called upon for advice.
