HL Deb 12 April 1994 vol 553 cc84-5WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty"s Government:

To what extent the exposure of users of organophosphate sheep dips to other organophos-phorus compounds used in an agricultural, horticultural, garden or domestic context was considered when it was decided that it was not necessary to advise that the users" health be monitored.

Lord Henley

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations make clear that the responsibility for deciding on the need for health surveillance lies with employers. The Health and Safety Executive has provided advice to employers on how to decide whether to introduce health surveillance and gives examples of situations where health surveillance might normally be needed. It is not possible to prescribe for every situation.
