HL Deb 26 May 1993 vol 546 c22WA
Baroness Jeger

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, when preparing publicity to encourage pensioners to have their pensions paid direct to their bank or building society, they will make it clear that such pensions will be paid monthly in arrears instead of weekly from Post Offices.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Social Security (Lord Henley)

Pension claim forms, which set out the choice of methods of payment, already make it clear that pensions paid directly into a bank or building society are paid four-weekly, (or, if the pensioner prefers, thirteen-weekly) in arrears. In addition, leaflet FB 6Retiring?, makes it clear that, where pensions are paid into a bank or building society account, benefit is paid "at the end of every 4 or 13 weeks".
