§ Mr. Gwilym JonesThe description "pharmacy" may be used only in respect of premises registered under the Medicines Act 1968. I am not aware of any GPs in Wales who run their own pharmacies.
All GPs may personally administer appliances or drugs, other than scheduled drugs, to their patients, and they are obliged to provide such appliances or drugs which are needed for the immediate treatment of a patient before provision can otherwise be obtained.
In addition, a GP can provide pharmaceutical services to a patient on his or her list where the patient has requested this and a number of conditions, which are specified in regulations, are met. The number of GPs providing pharmaceutical services under these arrangements in each family health services authority is given as follows:
