HC Deb 20 May 1993 vol 225 c252W
Mr. Mullin

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will give details of the terms on which £65 million aid was granted to the Government of Indonesia to develop a power project in east Kalimantan; if he will name the project; and if he will list the British companies involved.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The £65 million loan arrangement signed with the Indonesian Government in April 1993 provided finance at 3.5 per cent. interest, repayable over 25 years with a seven-year grace period.

The Samarinda electric power project in east Kalimantan is likely to utilise most of the £65 million. The Indonesian electricity authority will award a contract for equipment supply after a competition between a number of British suppliers.
