HL Deb 29 March 1993 vol 544 cc41-2WA
Baroness Hilton of Eggardon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action will be taken in the current negotiations on the EC cohesion financial instrument and subsequently the Cohesion Fund to ensure that comprehensive environmental evaluation of all projects is carried out before funding is agreed.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Baroness Denton of Wakefield)

Projects to be funded under the cohesion financial instrument and subsequently under the Cohesion Fund will have to conform with relevant Community policies, including those on environmental protection. Environmental impact assessments will be necessary in accordance with the requirements of Community directives.
