HL Deb 25 March 1993 vol 544 cc24-5WA
The Earl of Selkirk

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether citizens of the Commonwealth who took part in the last war, either as members of the British Armed Forces or the Commonwealth Armed Forces, can expect to obtain authority to live permanently in this country.

Earl Ferrers

The requirements of the Immigration Rules for people coming for settlement apply to all foreign nationals and to Commonwealth citizens who do not have the right of abode. There is no special provision for those who served as members of the British Forces during World War Two. They can expect to obtain authority to live permanently in this country, if they meet the relevant requirements of the rules.
