To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many applications there were in each traffic area for(a) operator licence applications and (b) renewal of operator licences; how many were refused in each area; and what was the reason in each case for refusal of operator licence applications.

The views of consultees on the proposals contained in the consultation document "Passengers and Goods Vehicle Operator Licensing" circulated on 27 May 1993, are being considered and a statement will be made in due course.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will place in the Library a copy of the joint report by the traffic commissioners against continuous operators licensing.

§ Mr. Key
The traffic commissioners did not submit a formal report in response to the consultation document on operator licensing and it is not our normal practice to publish individual responses to consultations of this nature. The views of consultees on the proposals contained in the document of 27 May 1993, "Passenger and Goods Vehicle Operator Licensing"—a copy of which was placed in the Library—are being considered and a statement will be made in due course.
