HC Deb 26 July 1993 vol 229 c695W
Mr. Pike

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many council houses are empty(a) in total and (b) in the north-west region; and how many of them (i) are fit for occupancy, (ii) need minor repairs and (iii) need more extensive renovation.

Sir George Young

Local authorities report the numbers of their own dwellings that are empty in their housing investment programme (HIPI) returns.

The latest available figures for England and the north-west, which are at 1 April 1992, appear in columns A198, total vacant; A191, available for letting; A192, awaiting minor repairs; and A193 and A194, awaiting major works, of the "1992 HIP1—Regional Grossing", a copy of which is in the Library.
