§ Mr. SoamesI have received representations from the Society for the Promotion of Nutritional Therapy and the Action Group for the Relief of Pain and Distress about the recent decision to seek the withdrawal from sale of certain comfrey products containing the highest levels of toxic alkaloids.
I reiterate that this action was taken on the basis of unequivocal recommendations from the independent expert scientific committees that advise Ministers on food safety issues.
