HL Deb 08 February 1993 vol 542 cc36-8WA
Lord Finsberg

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What provisions are made in respect of opted-out schools for electing governors when any vacancy occurs and for periodic retirements.

The Minister of State, Department of Education (Baroness Blatch)

The instrument of government of every grant-maintained school sets out the procedure to be followed for the election of members of the governing body. Contested elections of parent governors or teacher governors must be held by secret ballot.
