HL Deb 01 February 1993 vol 542 cc2-3WA
Lord Morris

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, before privatisation of British Coal, they will ensure that the surpluses in its pension fund are returned to the public purse from whence they came.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Baroness Denton of Wakefield)

The disposal of any surpluses declared by the British Coal pension schemes is a matter for the trustees of those schemes.
