How many sub-post offices there were in (a) 1970, (b) 1980 and (c) 1990 in (1) England, (2) Scotland, (3) Wales and (4) Northern Ireland.

The total numbers of sub-post offices in the United Kingdom for the years requested were:

Post Office Counters Ltd. does not group sub-post offices on a territorial basis for management or administrative purposes and the analysis for the years requested could only be provided at disproportionate cost.

However, at 29th March 1992, the total number of sub-post offices, including franchise offices, in the United Kingdom was 19,141 of which 14,505 were located in England, 2,046 in Scotland, 1,937 in Wales and 653 in Northern Ireland.
