HL Deb 14 April 1993 vol 544 cc67-8WA
Lord Ashley of Stoke

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What has been the cost to public funds in each of the last 10 years of the Pesticide Usage Survey Group and its equivalent groups in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Earl Howe

Since the introduction of the Food and Environment Protection Act (1985), the costs of the pesticide usage surveys have been fully recovered through the annual levy on pesticide approval holders and there is no cost to public funds.

Prior to this the costs were as follows:

Year Costs (£'000)1
1984 155
1985 172
1986 191
1 These figures include costs for England, Wales and Scotland; Northern Ireland did not become involved until 1989.
