HC Deb 15 October 1991 vol 196 cc135-6W
Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what part his Department is taking in the review of the law governing the use of lethal force; what are the terms of the review; and what arrangements have been made to collect evidence from other interested parties.

Dr. Mawhinney

No formal arrangements have yet been made for a review of the law, but the Government are willing to consider the possibility of a change in the law, together with other propositions that have been made relating to the general use of force and the subject is receiving close scrutiny.
