HC Deb 20 June 1991 vol 193 cc248-9W
Mr. Shore

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis on the Public Order Act seeking more effective powers to prevent provocative racist marches; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

We have carefully considered the Commissioner's reported remarks. At present we are not persuaded that the Public Order Act requires amendment. We shall continue to keep the legislation and its operation under review.
