HL Deb 05 July 1991 vol 530 cc80-2WA
Baroness Darcy (de Knayth)

asked her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are now in a position to state the membership and terms of reference of the Advisory Group on Rehabilitation whose establishment was announced in March.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Hooper)

The chairman, as previously announced, is Lord Holderness, who was chairman of the former Disablement Services Authority. The other members are:

Mr. K. Bales—Regional General Manager, West Midlands Regional Health Authority.

Mr. L. Carter-Jones OBE—member of the former Disablement Services Authority

Professor A. Chamberlain—Professor of Rehabilitation, University of Leeds

Mrs. A. Davies OBE—member of Prince of Wales' Advisory Group on Disability

Ms. M. Harrison—District Physiotherapist, Leicestershire Health Authority

Lord McColl—vice-chairman of the former DSA; consultant surgeon, Guys Hospital

Professor D. L. McLellan—Professor of Rehabilitation, University of Southampton

Mr. N. Skinner—Community Nursing Advisor, Winchester Health Authority

Dr G. Winyard—Regional Director of Public Health, Wessex Regional Health Authority

The members of the advisory group bring together a wide range of expertise and experience. The Group has been set up to help us develop the right policies for rehabilitation in the National Health Service, including the wheelchair and artificial limb services which used to be run by the Disablement Services Authority. We see the group's task as helping us, working principally with and through the National Health Service, to give disabled people access to a wide range of services which will help them to lead as full a life as possible.
