HL Deb 16 October 1990 vol 522 c878WA
Baroness Nicol

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list all those sites which have been either designated or proposed for designation as Special Protection Areas (under the EC Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds) and/or Ramsar sites (under the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance) in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland respectively.

Baroness Blatch

I will write to the noble Baroness with this information and place a copy in the Library.

Baroness Nicol

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their target for the total number of designated Ramsar sites and Special Protection Areas in the UK by the end of 1990.

Baroness Blatch

No target has been set for the number of designations before the end of 1990. A number of proposals are currently being considered and the next designation will take place as soon as the necessary consultations have been satisfactorily completed.
