§ Ms. Armstrong

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) how many children in each local education authority were placed in a special unit following the completion of a statement of educational needs for each year since April 1983; and what this is expressed as a percentage of(a) the total number of children with statements in the local education authority and (b) the total number of statements made by the local education authority in that year;

(2) how many children in each local education authority were placed in a residential special school following the completion of a statement of educational needs for each year since April 1983; and what this is expressed as a percentage of (a) the total number of children with statements in the local education authority and (b) the total number of statements made by the local education authority in that year;

(3) how many children in each local education authority were placed in a non-residential special school following the completion of a statement of educational needs for each year since April 1983; and what this is expressed as a percentage of (a) the total number of children with statements in the local education authority and (b) the total number of statements made by the local education authority in that year;

(4) how many children in each local education authority remained in mainstream schools following the completion of a statement of educational needs for each year since April 1983; and what this is expressed as a percentage of (a) the total number of children with statements in the local education authority and (b) the total number of statements made by the local education authority in that year.
