To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis on those detained, following the 31 March incident in Trafalgar square, as to hose(a) released without charge, and (b) charged, by offence, and by age, sex and place of residence.

I am informed by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that by 8 June 471 people have been arrested in connection with the disorder which occurred during and following the demonstration against the community charge which took place in London on 31 March. Of these, 58 were subsequently released without charge.

The information readily available about the charges preferred and the age and sex of those charged with these offences is set out in table 1:
