HL Deb 29 January 1990 vol 515 cc155-6WA
Lord De Freyne

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the current guidelines laid down in the BBC in respect of advertising.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)

The Secretary of State has not exercised his power under the licence and agreement to permit the BBC to receive money for broadcast material. In addition, the BBC has drawn up guidelines for internal use about the way in which commercial products should be referred to in programmes.
