HL Deb 14 February 1990 vol 515 cc1455-6WA
Lord Hatch of Lusby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When Morley College will be enabled to plan its post-Easter courses on the assurance of adequate funding.

Baroness Blatch

The Secretary of State for Education and Science will be issuing a direction to the London Residuary Body on grant to be paid to Morley College in financial year 1990/91, subject to some further consultations.

Lord Hatch of Lusby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether Morley College will have to increase student fees, reduce the number of its classes, or both when the ILEA ceases to exist.

Baroness Blatch

The Government require the college to move closer towards financial self-sufficiency when ILEA ceases to exist. Against this background, fee levels and the organisation of provision are for the college itself to determine in detail.

Lord Hatch of Lusby

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What funds will be available to Morley College after the demise of the ILEA and from what source.

Baroness Blatch

Funds available to Morley College after 1st April 1990 will include grant from the London Residuary Body raised by levy on the inner London boroughs. The Secretary of State will shortly issue a direction on grant to be paid by the London Residuary Body. Funds will also be available to the college from student fee income and from other sources identified in the college's development plan.
