34. Mr. Wall

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from local education authorities regarding their spending on education.

62. Mrs. Mahon

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from local education authorities regarding their spending on education.

Mrs. Rumbold

My right hon. Friend discussed the education component of the Government's proposed local authority grant settlement for England for 1990–91 with representatives of the local authority associations at a meeting on 26 October. That was in addition to the statutory consultations about the overall settlement conducted by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment following his 6 November announcement. Many of the letters and other representations which my right hon. Friend receives from local education authorities about a range of education issues also touch on spending.
