HL Deb 03 April 1989 vol 505 c999WA
Lord Renton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether an estimate has been made of the cost to public funds of implementing the proposals made in the Green Paper, "The Work and Organisation of the Legal Profession" (Cmnd 570); and, if so, what will be the estimated costs to public funds of each proposal.

The Lord Chancellor

The Green Paper is a consultation document which seeks the views of both the public and the legal profession on the Government's provisional proposals for changes in the way in which legal services are to be provided in the future. It has not been considered appropriate therefore to make an estimate at this stage of the costs, if any, of the proposals to public funds.
