HL Deb 01 November 1988 vol 501 c180WA
Lord Brougham and Vaux

asked the Leader of the House:

When the recommendation as to future preservation of the sound archives of parliamentary proceedings, made by the Select Committee on Broadcasting in its First Report, Session 1986–87, will be implemented?

The Lord Privy Seal (Lord Belstead)

It is proposed to arrange as soon as possible for the implementation of the recommendation by the select committee that, in accordance with arrangements made with the National Sound Archive, a complete sound record of proceedings of both Houses of Parliament should in future, after retention by the House authorities here for a period of seven years, be stored permanently at the National Sound Archive in South Kensington.
