§ Mr. Cartwright
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when his Department was first approached about the possible purchase of No. 8 Camrose street, SE2, in connection with the east London river crossing; and why it has not yet been possible to reach a decision.

§ Mr. Channon
The owner of 8 Camrose street asked the Department to buy the property on compassionate grounds last September. Following further inquiries, the way is now clear for the Department to do so, without prejudice to the decisions still to be taken on the ELRC scheme. The district valuer will he commencing negotiations with the owner.
