HC Deb 21 January 1988 vol 125 c849W
Ms. Armstrong

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people were employed by North West Durham district health authority in 1979 and at the latest date available.

Mrs. Currie

Such information as is available is shown in the table.

Because of the 1982 National Health Service reorganisation consistent data at district health authority level are not available for 1979.

The figures exclude consultants and senior registrars whose contracts are held by the regional health authorities. The district health authorities where these staff work cannot be separately identified centrally. There will therefore be more medical and dental staff actually working in North West Durham district health authority than accounted for in the table.
