HC Deb 19 December 1988 vol 144 cc122-3W
65. Mr. Butler

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security whether he has any plans to improve the level of provision of voluntary care for the disabled within the community; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Scott

Disabled people living in the community and their informal carers are best placed to decide on the most appropriate form of voluntary care arrangements. Such arrangements can be backed up by the local authorities who are required to assess an individual disabled person for a range of services under section 2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970 when requested to do so.
