§ Mr. Soleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what inquiries he has conducted into the death of Stephen Bogle at Thames magistrates' court on 12 August 1986; and what action he intends to take;
(2) whether there will be an inquiry into the death of Stephen Bogle at Thames magistrates' court on 12 August 1986 by (a) the police or (b) the prison medical service.
§ Mr. MellorA review of Mr. Bogle's treatment in prison custody prior to his death has been carried out. This has shown that he received appropriate medical treatment during that time. The question whether there was any misconduct by police officers is under investigation by the Metropolitan police following the receipt of a complaint about this case. The investigation is being supervised by the Police Complaints Authority.
