HL Deb 03 June 1985 vol 464 cc600-1WA
Lord O'Hagan

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What revenue they have received from the taxation of farmhouse cider in each of the last five years for which figures are available.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Arts (The Earl of Gowrie)

Farmhouse cider is not specifically defined for revenue purposes, and a reliable estimate cannot be made. Such indications as there are, however, suggest that the annual revenue from cider duty and value added tax on this product is unlikely to exceed £1 million.
