HC Deb 16 May 1984 vol 60 cc185-6W
Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether, in the system proposed by British Telecom for cellular radio, the car ignition switch alone will operate the on/off switch for the subscriber unit, to the effect that the subscriber cannot have the unit off when the car engine is running.

Mr. Kenneth Baker

This is not a matter for which the Secretary of State has responsibility and I would suggest that the hon. Gentleman approaches the two licensed cellular radio system operators, who should be familiar with details concerning the design and installation of

50 per cent. of earnings for all European Economic Community countries, the United States of America and Japan.

Mr. Moore

[pursuant to his reply, 30 April 1984, c. 21.]: Information for France, Denmark and the United Kingdom is given in the following tables. I regret that for the remaining countries, the information requested could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

subscriber units to be used over their cellular systems. I have drawn to the attention of the two operators the hon. Gentleman's interest in this specific question.
