§ Mr. Peter BrookeThe University Grants Committee has not issued any recent guidance to universities on their obligations under section 8 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970. Responsibility for complying with statutory requirements rests with the individual university but the officers of the UGC are always ready to give informal advice on the planning of individual projects. No capital funds are allocated by the UGC specifically for the needs of the disabled, but the level of capital grant for major building projects will always include appropriate provision for them.
