HL Deb 15 June 1984 vol 452 c1452WA
Lord Oram

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state the present situation with regard to the next three-year replenishment of the International Development Association (IDA) and in particular the degree of success that has been reached in raising the 3 billion dollar supplementary facility.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Young)

A resolution covering the 9 billion dollar Seventh Replenishment of the International Development Association was passed by the World Bank's Executive Board on 24th May and is now before the Board of Governors. Getting this replenishment into place by 1st July has been the priority task, and consequently there has not yet been any general meeting of IDA donors to consider supplementary funding. It is clear that the majority of donors support the proposal, as we do, but it has not been agreed by all.
