HC Deb 26 January 1984 vol 52 c704W
Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many working days typically elapse between a local office being notified of a new address for a person claiming benefit and amendment of that person's address on the computer systems for (a) recording national insurance contributions and (b) the general index.

Dr. Boyson

Precise figures are not held, but after the necessary actions have been taken details of the new address would typically be expected to reach Newcastle central office within five working days, a little longer if previous claim papers are held at a different local office. The computer files at Newcastle central office would be amended within five days of receipt of notification.
