HL Deb 08 February 1984 vol 447 cc1262-3WA
Lord Kilmany

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why the Final Act of the Conference to conclude a Protocol to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat with text of Protocol, signed by the United Kingdom, in Paris on 3rd December 1982 (Cmnd. 9113), has not yet been ratified by the United Kingdom; and what is the reason for this delay.

Lord Skelmersdale

Before the United Kingdom can ratify the Protocol to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat it is necessary to obtain the agreement of all those United Kingdom dependent territories who were included in our ratification of the convention itself. One territory has still to reply. When it does we shall be able to ratify.
