HC Deb 12 April 1984 vol 58 c308W
Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Transport who will be undertaking the review of the air travel reserve fund announced by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State on 10 February; and when he expects it to be completed.

Mr. David Mitchell

I have asked Sir Peter Lane, a senior partner of Binder Hamlyn to carry out this review. He will examine the adequacy of the fund and the other matters raised by the chairman of the fund in his last annual report, alternative ways in which protection for travellers could be provided including commercial insurance, and whether it would be desirable and feasible to extend such protection to scheduled air passengers as well as those booking inclusive tours.

I hope that Sir Peter will be able to report his conclusions to me before the end of May.
