HC Deb 10 April 1984 vol 58 c191W
Mr. Robert C. Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government will make representations to the Government of Iran about the use of physical and mental torture in that country.

Mr. Luce

I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Mid-Ulster (Rev. William McCrea) on 22 March, at column 541. The resolution adopted by the United Nations Commission on Human Rights on 14 March, which was co-sponsored by the United Kingdom, expressed deep concern at the evidence of torture in Iran.
