HL Deb 24 February 1983 vol 439 cc927-8WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will call the Ambassadors of E1 Salvador, Guatemala, Turkey, Pakistan, Chile and Kampuchea and the High Commissioner for South Africa to the Foreign Office and ask them to convey to their Governments a request for the immediate release from prison of all persons imprisoned without trial, and an appeal that such Governments should not resort to murder, torture and harrassment of the citizens of these countries.

Lord Belstead

The Government have frequently expressed their abhorrence of violations of human rights wherever they may occur, and appropriate representations have been made. I therefore see no purpose in calling in these Heads of Mission.
