HL Deb 15 February 1983 vol 439 cc212-3WA
Lord Melchett

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many prosecutions there have been in England, Scotland and Wales for each of the last five years relating to the illegal taking of salmon.

Earl Ferrers

The information is not readily available. My right honourable friends the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales, are making inquiries of the bodies responsible for such prosecutions. I shall write to the noble Lord when all the replies have been received, and I will arrange for a copy of my letter to be placed in the Library.
