HL Deb 02 February 1982 vol 426 c1288WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What instructions have been given to Home Office presenting officers on whether or not they should seek to rely on age estimates based on bone X-rays when arguing for the dismissal of the appeals of children before the immigration appellate authorities.

Lord Belstead

The advice which has been given to Home Office presenting officers, like that given to entry clearance officers, is to adduce evidence of age based on bone X-rays only where there is other evidence of age based on a clinical examination of the physical characteristics of the individual.

House adjourned at nine minutes before nine o'clock.
