§ Mr. RidleyIncome tax is charged on an annual basis and hence estimates are available only for complete financial years. The average payment made by those liable at the rate of 60 per cent. or more was £10,000 in 1978–79 and approximately £15,600 in 1982–83, both amounts being expressed in 1978–79 prices.
