HL Deb 19 January 1981 vol 416 c335WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the latest estimate of non-patrial United Kingdom passport holders in India:

  1. (a) eligible for readmission under the Immigration Rules;
  2. (b) eligible for special quota vouchers;
  3. (c) not eligible for readmission or for special quota vouchers; and what is the latest estimate of those eligible as dependants of heads of households eligible for special quota vouchers.

Lord Carrington

No estimates are made of those non-patrial United Kingdom passport holders (UKPH) resident in India who are eligible or ineligible for re-entry here; nor for those ineligible for special vouchers. It is estimated that some 39,000 UKPH heads of household and dependants are eligible to come here under the special voucher scheme.
