HL Deb 22 March 1979 vol 399 cc1399-400WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons (and from what countries) having been given leave to enter or remain as husbands in the United Kingdom for 12 months, applied for removal of conditions from 22nd March 1977 to the latest convenient date; how many of such applicants were the subject of selective checks as to the genuine nature of their marriage; and whether the Government will give an analysis of the results of those inquiries, broken down by national origin.

Lord BOSTON of FAVERSHAM

I regret that this information is not readily available and could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.
