HC Deb 11 June 1979 vol 968 c18W
Mr. Weetch

asked the Attorney-General what proportion of land in England and Wales is now registered; and when he expects compulsory registration of land to be completed.

The Solicitor-General

, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 25 May 1979; Vol. 967, c. 267], gave the following answer:

It is not practicable to calculate the extent of land to which title has been registered. There are now approaching 6½ million registered titles, and areas of compulsory registration comprise about 75 per cent. of the population of England and Wales. The programme fox the extension of compulsory registration will be completed as soon as possible, but my noble Friend is not yet in a position to estimate when this will be.
