asked the Secretary of State for Transport what will be the capital and revenue costs of Merseyside county council's proposal to build a new inner ring road in the city of Liverpool.

The Liverpool inner ring road is a Merseyside county council proposal and it is for it to estimate the capital and revenue cost.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will hold a public inquiry into the proposed construction of a new inner ring road in the city of Liverpool.

I understand that Merseyside county council is planning to begin consultations with the city council about its proposals. I am sure this is the right way for the matter to be handled at this stage.
